Their skin would almost certainly have been white. A lack of sun would have caused rickets among the women and natural selection enabled only those with a whiter skin to survive childbirth since hominids with dark skin synthesize less vitamin D on exposure to sunlight than those with lighter skin. They were probably fair-skinned, hairy, with blue eyes and long noses. They were strong, intelligent and physically powerful. |
